FRPL Activities

FRPL conducts its Annual General Meeting in the Fall each year, and holds Board meetings throughout the year.
FRPL continues to represent library supporters at RPL Board meetings and at public consultations.
FRPL makes a presentation to City Council about the Library budget in April each year.
FRPL address matters that arise in the public domain related to libraries.

Annual General MeetingThe Annual General Meeting of FRPL was held on Sunday September 25, 2011 at the Cathedral Neighbourhood Centre. Avenue. The meeting was well-attended and good discussions were held concerning current developments at RPL and future activities of FRPL.

FRPL in the Community FRPL set up display booths at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival in 2009, 2010 and 2011. We also had a table at the Regina Folk Festival in 2009, and at other events.
Community and Library Planning FRPL participates in community planning activites related to the City of Regina, such as the Regina Downtown Plan. On October 25, 2011 Joanne Havelock made a presentation to the Design Regina Ideas Fair and participated in discussions for Design Regina.

FRPL continues to inform its members of developments for the Prince of Wales Branch, Central Branch and the North Central Shared Facility and representatives of FRPL participate in the planning processes.

Saskatchewan Library Association Each year the Saskatchewan Library Association and library supporters celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week. In 2010 a representative from FRPL participated by being part of the "guerilla library" event, handing out Libraries Matter buttons and information about Library Week. For more information, check the SLA website. A representative of FRPL also attended the Saskatchewan Libraries Conference in 2010.
History Project Many interesting stories are emerging from the interviews with former Library staff and from the RPL Board minutes - starting back one hundred years ago! More details.
Fundraiser September 17, 2008 The Friends of Regina Public Library held a very successful fundraising luncheon on September 17th at the Conexus Centre of the Arts featuring Alexandre "Sacha" Trudeau as guest speaker. (Link to bio and picture) There were 385 tickets sold and close to $3000 was raised and donated to the Regina Public Library, in recognition of its Centennial.
