FRPL Activities
  • FRPL conducts its Annual General Meeting in the Fall each year, and holds Board meetings throughout the year.
  • FRPL continues to represent library supporters at RPL Board meetings and at public consultations.
  • FRPL makes a presentation to City Council about the Library budget in April each year.
  • FRPL address matters that arise in the public domain related to libraries.
FRPL in the Community Great interest was shown for the FRPL display booths at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, May 30 and the Regina Folk Festival August 15 & 16, 2009. Comments from the public have been forwarded to the Library and architectural consultants for the new Central Library.
Library Design Projects FRPL continues to inform its members of the public consultations for the Prince of Wales, Central Library and North Central Shared Facility planning processes and representatives of FRPL participate in the planning processes. History Project Using a variety of perspectives and sources, including personal essays, archival materials and historical analysis, the project is intended to be a social history of the Regina Public Library in the context of a changing city. Sections will focus on how the library has reflected the community’s evolving needs and interests through Branch development and such innovative programming as the Dunlop Art Gallery, art rentals, the Prairie History Room, a film collection and the RPL Film Theatre.

The project is going forward in partnership with the Regina Public Library and the Canadian Plains Research Center. The RPL has provided the project with a $5000 grant, office space in the Prairie History Room, a laptop computer, access to RPL history files and the support of RPL staff. Greatly appreciated grant assistance has also been received from the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation, the Saskatchewan Arts Board and Saskatchewan Tourism, Culture and Sport - Building Pride Program.

The book is scheduled for publication in 2010 The co-editors are Susan Birley, Anne Campbell and Jeannie Mah.
